As Ann and I were driving home from speaking at Unity of the Shenandoah June 12th, we saw a deer that had been struck and killed along the highway. Ann mused “When does the soul release the body?” I asked the question “Is the soul ever really connected to the body?”
Let’s take a flight simulator for instance. These are machines that pilots use to brush up on their skills and test emergency scenarios in a safe way. The good ones are little rooms mounted on hydraulics so that the simulator can be moved around to simulate the motions a pilot would feel as they fly. When the pilot enters the simulator, does he/she become one with the simulator? It may seem so to them at the time, but the reality is that they are never really connected. They see what is on the displays, feel the motions and the controls, and manipulate the controls with their hands and feet. When the exercise is over, the pilot unbuckles, gets up, and walks out – the same as before, but maybe a bit wiser and more skilled. There is no connection to the simulator.
Does this resonate for you? Is life just a session in the “life simulator?”
