Have you been around an infant lately? What is your impression of how they perceive the world around them? Have you heard any remarks from children under six or so that would indicate they remember a past life? Do you remember anything from a past life or time before you were born? How does that affect your perception of your current material life?
Do you have a lot of possessions? How do you feel about those possessions? Do they increase or deplete your energy? When you move (or if you anticipated moving) how would you decide which things to keep and which things to let go?

Are you, or have you worked with an “energy healer” – Reiki or Quantum Touch, or any of the other multitudes of energy healing modalities? Are you sensitive to the flow of chi – can you feel it? What does it feel like to you? If you have not felt it, find someone or better yet several someones who are energy workers and ask them to describe their sensations when they are doing their work.
Are you familiar with energy “meridians?” There is a good description at the “Natural Health Zone” website here. At right is a good overview graphic from The Association For Meridian & Energy Therapies (website here). The point in showing this graphic is to demonstrate that the energy pathways exist and are fairly well understood. They are not, however, structures that you would be able to identify during surgery or autopsy. Chi is often described as being like electricity, in the sense that it is energy and it flows, potentially through pathways. That is where the similarity ends. Electricity is of the material world, where Chi is spiritual energy. Acupuncture and acupressure are techniques that work with the energy meridians. NAET (Nabudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) works with the meridians. Basically NAET reprograms your body to accept the presence of the allergen without reacting to it. It’s like telling your body “It’s ok, this substance won’t hurt you, you don’t need to get upset about it!”

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is another technique or modality that works with Chi energy pathways. The underlying understanding is that “all negative emotions are caused by disturbances in the energy pathways.” EFT seeks to open the pathways to reduce resistance to the natural flow of Chi, through tapping specific points (see the drawing at right) and using verbal affirmations or statements. You can find an EFT practitioner by doing a google search “eft practitioner {your city}” such as “eft practitioner Charlottesville VA.” If you don’t find one, contact me through the form below and I’ll put you in touch with a practitioner who can work with you remotely. You can also learn about it as Ann did and practice it on yourself – if you don’t get amazing results, you can still connect with a practitioner.
Here’s an EFT exercise you can try. Pick whatever issue is causing you the most angst or negative energy in this moment. Rate the level of emotion relative to this issue from zero (Meh) to ten (very emotionally painful) and write it down. You’re going to go through the tapping points in this order (check the EFT Tapping Points graphic)
- TH – Top of head – imagine a line from one ear to the other reaching over the top of the head. Where that line crosses the very top of the head is the correct spot. If you feel around up there, you’ll find that it feels a bit different.
- OE – Side of eye – actually the outside end of the eyebrow
- IE – Eyebrow – the inside end of the eyebrow above the bridge of the nose
- UE – under the eye – just below the eye socket
- UN – under the nose
- CH – chin – halfway between the lip and point of the chin)
- CO – Collarbone – the inside end of the collarbone
- SS – “Sore Spot” – feel around in the area depicted by the graphic until you find a sensitive spot. You’ll know when you found it.
- UA – Under arm. This is under the armpit, about where a woman’s bra strap would go.
Where there are two corresponding points left and right, you can tap both of them simultaneously, or just one or the other. The tapping is gentle, like drumming your fingers gently on a table. You can use one or two fingers to do the tapping. I’m going to use {my issue} in the verbal part, you should subsititute a word or two to describe whatever your issue is. For instance if I’m upset about a noisy neighbor I would subsitute “Noisy neighbor” instead of {my issue}. If you’re in mixed company that would inhibit what you’re saying, you can just say “my issue” while you THINK and visualize about the “noisy neighbor.” If you’re in a situation where you need to be quiet or just don’t want to give someone evidence for carting you off to the funny farm, you can just do the verbalization in your mind, but it is somewhat better to say it aloud.
Here goes:
Say the phrase while tapping on the point(s) indicated. You can vary the phrases to bring up the stress in the whatever-it-is for you. I’ve varied them in the example, make up your own phrases that make sense to you.
TH “Even though I have this {my issue}, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
OE “Even though I have this {my issue}, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
IE “Even though I feel really upset about {my issue}, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
UE “Even though I don’t think I can stand {my issue} any longer, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
UN “Even though I don’t know how to handle {my issue}, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
CH “Even though I have this {my issue}, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
CH “Even though I feel like this {my issue} is driving me crazy, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
CO “Even though I want this {my issue} to go away NOW, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
SS “Even though I really hate this {my issue}, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
UA “Even though I have this {my issue}, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Go through that 1 to 3 times, then do the following 2-3 times, tapping the point indicated while stating {my issue}:
TH “{my issue}”
OE “{my issue}”
IE “{my issue}”
UE “{my issue}”
UN “{my issue}”
CH “{my issue}”
CH “{my issue}”
CO “{my issue}”
SS “{my issue}”
UA “{my issue}”
Now stop and think about the issue. Rate it on a scale of 0-10 as you did before, noting how it feels NOW, and write it down.
Did you get movement, meaning did the intensity change for you? Is it a zero now? If it isn’t you can try going through the routine another time or two. Please use the form below to let me know what you were tapping for and how it changed – what was your starting number, and ending number?
If you’ve done the routine a few times, and didn’t get things down to or close to a zero, you might need to work with an EFT practitioner who can bring some other techniques to help with the issue. Let me know how it went using the form below, I’ll help you connect with a practitioner if needed.
